Another unanimous vote, this time the Volusia County Council agreeing to provide $2.25 million in infrastructure improvements as requested by Consolidated-Tomoka Land Company for the construction of the Tomoka Town Center. Construction could begin late August on an outlet mall operated by Tanger Outlets.
The project, at a 200-acre site near Interstate 95 and LPGA Boulevard, is projected to create 300 construction jobs and 800 permanent retail jobs.
Volusia County’s offer is contingent on the city of Daytona Beach matching the amount. The city has already agreed to the matching funds and could vote on the deal later this month.
Tomoka Town Center is projected to generate $50 million in tax revenue for Volusia County and another $30 million to Daytona Beach during the first 30 years of operation.
